Primary School

‘Go shine in the world and live as Jesus did with compassion, honesty and integrity.’

Sports Premium

Sport is central to life at St George the Martyr School. Achievement and effort is encouraged through team and individual games at school and through inter-school competitions and tournaments. We believe that sport helps to build confidence and promotes our school values of excellence, determination, fair play and teamwork. We offer a range of sports and encourage a life-long positive attitude towards healthy living and sport.

PE is taught by specialist sports coaches and activities include swimming at the YMCA Swimming Pool, Netball, Football, Athletics, Cricket and Gymnastics. St George the Martyr has access to excellent sports facilities due to our proximity to Coram's Fields.

Specialist instructors take swimming lessons at YMCA Swimming Pool in small groups. Children are assessed regularly and receive certificates as they progress to swimming longer distances.

We also have sports club on offer for children from Year 1 - Year 6 after school, these include:

Football, Gymnastics, Dance, Tennis and Multisports. This helps children develop their coaching skills and team building skills.

We encourage children to participate in competitive sport and our school competes in football, netball and cross-country competitions. Our annual sports day takes place at Coram's Fields every July.

Pupils are encouraged to try a wide range of outward-bound activities during the Year 6 residential school journey such as climbing, abseiling, high ropes courses, challenge courses, raft building and archery.
