St George the Martyr has a daily act of collective worship which is held as a whole school or in key stage groups. Once a half term this is taken by one of our local clergy from St George the Martyr Church.
In our school we have, as a thread running through our work, the belief and practice of the Christian church. We regularly visit St George’s church where the children have a lot of fun learning about different parts of Christianity throughout the year, such as: Easter, Advent and Christmas.
During the school year we also celebrate Christian festivals and other important events in the school calendar.
Our times of collective worship are important times when children come together to enjoy stories and songs and to reflect on religious, spiritual, moral and social issues.
Every Friday at 9.10am we hold an Celebration Assembly where we share the children’s successes throughout the week by awarding certificates for being the Star Learner and for demonstrating a current Christian Value. Parents are welcome to join us for this assembly.
Our school follows six Christian Values which are:
Determination
Respect
Friendship
Inspiration
Excellence
Community
Our ultimate vision is for the children to:
Go, shine in the world and live as Jesus lived, with compassion, honesty and integrity.
Our School motto is based upon Philippians 2:12-16
